Biography:

Hailing from the northern climes of small town Barrie, Ontario, Canada, Darren Klementti was first turned on to progressive electronic sounds through Kraftwerk and Whodini while poppin’ and lockin’ at the public schoolyard in grade 6.  After hearing Front 242 and Fast Eddie in highschool there was no turning back.

Darren soon began his foray into production, mastering the skill of creating megamixes on two cassette decks and two turntables.  His first DJ residency came at the young age of 17, and shortly after, began creating music as a part of the mainstream production team, Riprock ‘n Dash.  Over twenty remixes later, Darren left this outfit to pursue more personal musical interests.

His musical production and DJ styles have run the gamut from hip-hop to techno, and broken-beat to house.  He has maintained an ever-present electronic funk that challenges established conventions, and through his vast knowledge of music, has amalgamated a digital blueprint of future music innovation.  His evolution as an artist has been a long and prolific journey, and he continues to push sonic boundaries with each new production and appearance.

Utilizing a number of different monikers (such as Funk 198, The Crompton Set, and Chef’s Head), Darren has had more than 20 releases on labels such as Stickman, Riviera, and Loaded, and has played in clubs from Canada to Finland.
